iDirect Satellite Network

Commencing in October 2007, Central Comms were contracted to provide a remote communications solution for approximately 70 sites for the Department of Families, Housing, Community Services and Indigenous Affairs (FaHCSIA). After carefully considering our options, the iDirect satellite solution was chosen for its reliability, ease of use for the end user, capability and price. Installed in each remote FaHCSIA office were telephone lines, data and internet services, which have functioned extremely well given the harsh remote environment they are operating in. The Central Comms techincians installed the sites throughout the Northern Territory, including Arnhem Land and the islands off the north coast throughout the build-up and wet season. Our implementation plan was such that we could work around weather and climatic challenges as they presented themselves keeping the project on time and on budget.

Remote Mine Site Village Television System

Central Comms were contracted in January 2007 to provide a Television solution for two, 280 room accommodation villages in the Pilbara region. Conducting work such as this, outside in the middle of the tropical build up and the vast distances traveled from site proved our logistical planning team and installation team can work anywhere, anytime and within the tight construction deadlines under which we were engaged. The system provided 8 channels of Foxtel and 4 Free-to-Air television channels with excellent reception to all rooms in the village. The photo shows a side on view of the equipment racks and the cabling techniques employed within them.

UHF Remote Radio Repeater Project

Helicopter access and dificult location logistics are two areas where Central Comms excel. This project was around 700km south west of Alice Springs and required communications sites to be established on top of mountains and in diffucult sand dune terrain. Working in conjunction with the client, the installation team were able to seamlessly establish these remote sites causing no additional concerns for the client. We have plant and equipment that enable us to chemset anchors in solid rock faces to 800mm deep and were able to fabricate equipment plinths and associated hardware to suit each site individually. Central Comms pride themselves in the ability to conduct these tasks and are your only choice for infrastructure establishment projects anywhere in Australia.

UHF Remote Radio Repeater Tower

This site is part of the above network. Central Comms in conjunction with the client were able to establish these sites, locating the necessary resources to install 5 x 25m communications masts and associated equipment shelter and solar frames into very soft sand dune country. This sort of work requires our teams to camp in remote locations for several days at a time. Even a broken spring on our trailer in such a remote location was not a hasssle - therefore not posing any delays for the client in completing there project.
